ADB - Fintelekt Seminar: Digital Payment Systems, Mobile Money Services & Agent Banking

September 12, 2017
Hotel Kingsbury, Colombo

The growth of Internet penetration coupled with the availability of cost effective smartphones in Sri Lanka is driving the next wave of convenient and secure digital financial services. Coupled with its relatively high banking penetration compared to other countries in the region, Sri Lanka is well equipped to leapfrog other developing markets in increasing the penetration and access to finance by replacing costly, inefficient forms of payment with convenient and reliable digital payment systems.

Mobile money services are also being deployed across emerging markets as a key tool to further the goal of financial inclusion and expansion of basic services. Fintech is expected to play a significant role in this, by helping to supplement and diversify the existing financial eco-system.

The regulatory environment in Sri Lanka is already supportive, with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka having proposed a five-year national payment roadmap for greater security measures and awareness campaigns to educate the public on the advantages of digital payments.

In this context, Fintelekt, in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is organising a seminar on “Digital Payment Systems, Mobile Money Services and Agent Banking”. ADB will present the highlights from its recent study on financial disruption and inclusion. In addition, the seminar will feature speakers and panelists who will discuss opportunity areas within existing distribution systems, potential for fintech-led disruption, collaborative frameworks, and regulatory expectations on mobile money services and digital payment systems.

Attendance is complimentary but restricted to specific roles and designations. Therefore, please note that submitting this registration form does NOT guarantee a seat at the seminar. If your registration request is accepted, you will receive a confirmation email from Fintelekt.
