Virtual Workshop

Overview

Fintelekt Advisory Services and the Asian Bankers Association will jointly organise the virtual workshop on Know Your Customer – Beyond the Check List Approach on April 22, 2025.

Regulated financial institutions are mandated to follow KYC procedures, but truly understanding the customer goes beyond ticking boxes. This two-hour virtual workshop will explore a deeper, risk-based approach to KYC and is designed for compliance and risk professionals seeking to strengthen their CDD and EDD frameworks and build a more effective, intelligence-driven financial crime prevention strategy.

Armed with a comprehensive understanding of the evolving KYC landscape and the importance of proactive risk management, participants will explore the pitfalls of a checklist mentality and gain insights into adopting a risk-based approach (RBA) to KYC, including its key components and practical applications in risk assessment. The session will also cover FATF Recommendation 1 and financial inclusion, offering real-world examples of how institutions can balance compliance with accessibility.

In this instructor-led live virtual workshop (delivered via Zoom), the trainer will discuss:

  • The evolving landscape of KYC
  • The importance of proactive risk management.
  • The pitfalls of a “Checklist Mentality”
  • Understanding the risk-based approach and its components
  • FATF recommendation 1 and financial inclusion
