The Asian Bankers Association aims to provide a forum for advancing the cause of the banking and finance industry in the region and promoting regional economic cooperation. Its primary objectives include the following:

  • To provide a venue for an exchange of views and information on banking opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region;
  • To facilitate the meeting of bankers in the region in an atmosphere of fellowship and friendship;
  • To encourage joint activities that would enhance the role of its members in servicing the financial needs of their respective economies and in promoting regional development; and
  • To undertake projects that will encourage trade, industrial, and investment cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region.

National Banking Institute Limited (NBI) is national level apex banking and finance academy. It was established under the aegis of Nepal Bankers´ Association with support from Asian Development Bank. Apart from Nepal Banker’s Association member banks, its promoters include Nepal Rastra Bank and Rural Microfinance Development Center (RMDC).

NBI’s vision is to be the most preferable learning institute for providing and enhancing the competence and professional banking and financial service personnel in a change environment.

Nepal Bankers’ Association aims to make the banks in Nepal more effective and efficient, and identify the problems and implement the remedies associated with the business of the banks.

The objectives and activities of the Association include:

  • To develop and promote efficient, strong and creative banking activities and business within the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal based on the most recent and modern principles and prudent practices
  • To adopt and implement necessary policies, procedures and technology for the purpose of providing prompt and useful banking services to the general public through effective banking transactions
  • To assist and provide various suggestions to the members of the Association with regard to banking business and activities
  • To provide suggestions to the Government of Nepal and Nepal Rastra Bank from time to time in connection with the formulation of necessary banking policies and to carry on timely reform in banking transactions
